Geo- Social Networks, “Checking In”, and “Status Updates” have become standard modes of instantaneous communications throughout our nation.
Citizens not only know where their Facebook, FourSquare and Twitter friends are at any given moment, they are also presented with robust data on surrounding businesses and neighborhoods. They essentially, in Public Safety parlance, benefit from “situation awareness”.
Thus, millions of students, on K-12 and college campuses across our nation, now enjoy an unrivaled level of connectivity with one another.
However, these advancements in technology have not increased the safety of our children. Campuses are now experiencing increased cases of crime and violent intrusions, causing more and more trauma and loss of life to Innocent students.
Currently, School Districts across the US must rely upon antiquated security systems and traditional phone lines to reach their local public safety agencies. Each call is made with a high expectation that 9-1-1 will respond with the ease and efficiency seen on TV.
Currently, a call to 911 contains a simple two-way stream of information. That is the verbal exchange between two individuals, typically a nervous and anxious caller delivering critical situational data.
This is further compounded by one of our city’s biggest challenges.
Public safety agencies across our nation are overwhelmed by shortages in law enforcement personnel and severe budget cutbacks, ultimately resulting in eroding response times.
Senator John Barrows introduced legislation in July 2013 to fund the installation of Panic Buttons in school districts, so that campus personnel could instantly reach their local 911 call centers.
But regardless of funding, a significant question arises: Why isn’t our country’s connected technology, available to any citizen with a cellphone or tablet, being used more effectively to help reduce campus crime and violence?
Here’s your answer: The only manner in which our educational system can truly insure a fast, accurate and effective emergency response is through a new system which prioritizes an incoming 9-1-1 call and deliver robust situational information.
This new and evolving national system is called the E911 Network, where any local incoming 9-1-1 call and relevant situational data receive the highest priority, so that time is not lost at that very moment when seconds can be the difference between life and death on a Campus.
Highly effective campus security systems and protocols go way beyond any traditional call routing to 911. At the heart of any campus security system must be its ability to immediately aid in saving lives or reducing trauma when violence or unwanted intrusions occur.
When students and Campus personnel really need help – they need it NOW.
MobileTREC’s proprietary Campus Safety Network is the very first layer that every school district needs today. This is advanced safety technology that will work with existing campus phone systems, remote panic buttons and even the cellular phones of school personnel. It is easy to set up and most importantly, this technology links a campus’ existing communication lines directly into our nation’s new E911 system.
A press of a Panic Button or a speed dial from any phone on campus and even through cell phones, your school’s personnel will instantly be connected to 24/7/365 Emergency call center, your campus security, pre-designated school administrators and the pre-selected personnel at the school district’s headquarters.
When a crisis or emergency occur, don’t seconds feel like minutes and minutes feel like hours?
Now each school’s local 9-1-1 Dispatch Operators will be able to receive a School’s unique ePassport containing relevant information about its campus, including floor plans, photos, emergency exits, gathering areas, playgrounds and contact lists of key personnel along with crucial time saving data, all within seconds.
It can be set up and operational within an hour. Each campus, in a school district, can custom configure their Campus Safety Network to instantly connect with local stakeholders unique to their campus and school district.
By extending its patented technology to School Districts nationwide, MobileTrec has made protection easy to use and affordable to each individual campus.
