According to CBS News on Wednesday, President-elect Donald Trump will nominate retired Marine General John Kelly to lead the Department of Homeland Security. CBS added, citing multiple sources that Kelly, who is the former head of the U.S. Southern Command, has accepted the offer. He would be the third general the president-elect has chosen for a high-level position in his administration. Before leaving his post as the head U.S. Southern Command until earlier this year, Kelly commanded American forces numerous times in Iraq, and spent a year as the top Marine in that country.
